How it connects

eModal, from Advent eModal (Advent Intermodal Solutions), is a landside cargo platform used by container terminals, depots and truckers at many US ports. Its applications include PreGate for truck appointments, Fee Manager for paying terminal fees such as demurrage, and a Community Portal that brings container status and appointments together.

ATAHSKIA brings in the eModal records your company or your dray carrier can access: container status, appointment requests and confirmations, and fee payments. Where appointments were unavailable or a box was not yet released, that history becomes evidence for the incentive principle in 46 CFR § 545.5, which looks at whether a charge could actually prompt cargo or equipment to move. Every demurrage invoice is also checked against the 20 elements of § 541.6.

Fee Manager payments are worth reconciling too. Demurrage paid at the terminal to release a container, then billed again on a carrier invoice, is a duplicate that is easy to miss when the two charges arrive weeks apart.

Setup

  1. Identify whose account holds the records

Appointments are usually made by the dray carrier, fees often by the importer or broker. Decide which accounts hold the history you need.

  2. Authorize access or exports

The account holder authorizes access or schedules exports of watch list status, appointment history and fee payments in the format available to them.

  3. Map containers to invoices

ATAHSKIA matches eModal records to invoice lines by container number and terminal.

  4. Confirm evidence rules

Tell us how your truckers document failed appointment attempts so those records attach to the right dispute.

What it recovers

No appointments, no fluid cargo

Your trucker's PreGate history shows no pickup slots for three days before the last free day. The demurrage dispute cites § 545.5 with the appointment record attached.

Duplicate demurrage

Demurrage paid through Fee Manager to release a box appears again on the carrier's invoice. The duplicate is flagged and a refund request drafted.

Hold release timing

The container's release status in eModal shows when holds actually lifted, which tests the free time start date on the invoice.

eModal integration FAQ

Our dray carrier makes the appointments. Can we still use this?

Yes, with their cooperation. Many truckers share appointment history with the importer for exactly this reason, and ATAHSKIA's drayage plan covers carriers who want to run disputes themselves.

Do you make appointments in eModal?

No. The connection reads history only.

Is ATAHSKIA an eModal partner?

No formal partnership is claimed.
